Here in Honolulu there are only a few strictly vegan places to eat so I typically either find the healthiest vegan option at another place or make my own food. On occasion, I will treat myself to either food at Down to Earth or Peace Cafe. I’ve only been here a few times but really like everything I’ve tried, so far.
The place is small and has a quaint feel to it. This is a help-yourself-to-your-own-water type of cafe, which makes you feel like you’re at home and just happen to have a chef in the kitchen.
The food definitely tastes healthy and not overly flavored. This is the type of food that makes you feel great after you eat it. You won’t have to worry about feeling sick from too much oil, salt, or sugar. My number one picks, here, are the Tex Mex burrito and the cornbread.
The last time I was there I happened to stop by on one of their more busy nights. I was told that they have live performers on Fridays and there is also cheesecake there. Music and fat-kid food, my favorite!
